What is Targetprocess?
Targetprocess was founded in 2004 by Michael Dubakov, Oleg Seriaga, Eugene Khasenevich, Vadim Gaidukevich, and Andrey Mihailenko. All early adopters of Agile methodologies, the four developed the software for Agile methods in their free time. Unlike many other companies of that era, Targetprocess prioritized UX design above all else, which soon saw it positioned as one of the most popular, user-friendly programs of its kind.
Targetprocess aims to help companies maintain their core start-up culture while ensuring their Agile teams are scalable. Now, Targetprocess is used by over 5000 organizations. Its organic customer base has grown almost exclusively through referrals.

Targetprocess Project Management Features
Targetprocess is a project management software particularly well-targeted towards Agile projects, such as issue tracking, product testing, time-tracking, and resource planning. While typical project management software often lack Agile features, Targetprocess has a robust set of Agile project management functionality, making it a great option for companies and teams that frequently work with Agile methodologies. Companies looking for extensive communication features, on the other hand, may need to consider other software options.
Targetprocess offers teams a varied suite of tools for planning and conceptualizing projects. Users can visualize tasks with various views, including a roadmap, a list, and a board view. Targetprocess provides several project templates. The Kanban board, in particular, offers an Agile-friendly approach to planning and organizing tasks and projects.
Targetprocess’s Kanban board appears as a table rather than a classic Kanban board. Agile teams may need to adapt to the board’s visual layout, but the board’s functionality is essentially unchanged. Tasks can be arranged and re-ordered easily using the drag and drop system, as well as prioritized according to importance.
Task-management primarily takes place on the Kanban board, reflecting Targetprocess’ focus on complex Agile methods, as opposed to smaller tasks.
Workflows can be created using the to-do lists and the Kanban board. Targetprocess also offers Team Workflows, which can be created by allows different teams to create separate boards for the same project. Teams working on several projects at the same time may find this feature useful, as it gives each team the ability to define their own workflow. Targetprocess also allows users to automate work items within their workflows.
Communication & Collaboration
Targetprocess lets team members communicate and collaborate on work items through discussions and announcements. Dedicated guest accounts make it easy to collaborate with external partners in the software. However, there is no instant messaging feature included.
Users can easily share files to the software through the drag and drop system. Files can also be uploaded directly from a device. Users are only meant to upload documents or more complex agile structures.
It’s easy to collaborate with external partners or service providers within Targetprocess. Users can grant access to external stakeholders through dedicated user accounts designed for guests and partners. Guests accounts can access limited features in Targetprocess, but have no access to editing features. Teams are also able to share selected views with external guests.
Targetprocess enables users to add comments to most entities across the software. Other uses can be tagged directly in these comments using @mentions, or notified through an email alert. This feature is better suited to small group discussions than larger conversations. Users can also opt to receive email notifications about updates and events. Users are able to share real-time personal progress with stakeholders by sharing a relevant view, report, or dashboard.
Resource Allocation & Planning
Targetprocess offers resource planning functions that can track time use and capture insights into time management for both individual users and teams. The time-tracker feature allows users to monitor and optimize time spent per task. A suite of tools also allows for efficient scheduling and capacity planning across teams of all sizes. There is no budgeting functionality.
Team members can use the time-tracker feature to record how much time they’ve spent completing various tasks. Managers can compare actual time spent on tasks against their estimated time frames across task types, date ranges, and for individual team members.
Targetprocess is able to intuitively plan and structure projects according to user capacities. The software synthesizes planned workloads and schedules with team members’ actual working capacities to create project schedules and allocate individual workloads. To activate this function, project managers will need to enter relevant information on resources, team capacities, and individual schedules.
The software offers a so-called “Time Spent board” which brings together all the information regarding a project’s time-management in one visual. The Time Spent board shows at a glance which tasks are still in progress, their project IDs, their current status, and how much time has been spent on each task. It can also compare the actual time spent with a project’s estimated time-management targets.
Agile Project Management
Targteprocess is specifically designed for Agile project management and, as such, has a strong set of features for this area. It’s well-tailored for IT and software development teams and will allow these teams to effectively manage all of their projects within an Agile framework.
With Targetprocess, it’s easy for teams to create dedicated Scrum boards for all their development projects. The Scrum board is comprehensive and will prove intuitive for Agile teams. The Scrum board allows for a thorough overview of all the work items that need to be completed for each Sprint and lets team members keep on top of the Sprint backlog.
Targetprocess allows teams to capture, prioritize, and track bugs until they are resolved. It also offers a range of testing solutions, allowing teams to execute testing strategies within the entity for a build, feature, user story, and more. This testing functionality provides a valuable safety net for development teams and can also determine when a feature or user story is complete.
Targetprocess features inbuilt data visualization software that easily allows users to generate a range of reports, including visual reports, tabular reports, and timesheets, from templates. This selection of reporting methods includes reporting styles frequently used by Agile teams, like the Burndown Chart and the Cumulative Flow Diagram, which are especially valuable for sprints and releases.
Targetprocess offers just a single paid plan starting from $50 per user, per month, which includes the software’s full set of features. Targetprocess can also be tested free of charge for 30 days.
Note that this features list is simplified for the purposes of this Targetprocess review. For more information, visit the Targetprocess website.
Targetprocess offers enterprise-grade security protections. All Targetprocess servers are hosted at IBM Cloud, with data centres located around the world. User data is backed up at two different levels, to ensure data isn’t lost. Both backups are encrypted with AES256 encryption and the encryption key is securely stored separately. Each Targetprocess account is a web application with its own unique database, making it impossible to access any account from a different application. Targetprocess regularly checks its code and security system for weak points.
Targetprocess’s functionality is easy to expand and adapt, thanks to the wide range of third-party integrations available to users. These integrations make it easy to modify the software to suit the needs of a range of teams. Development teams, for example, may want to add Jira, GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket or Phabricator. Product management teams, on the other hand, may want to use integrations with tools such as Zendesk, Salesforce or ServiceNow.
Other integrations include:
- Azure DevOps
- Microsoft Project Server
Targetprocess is a comprehensive tool with powerful functions but its interface can seem cluttered and confusing compared with other similar software on the market. Beginners may find the software difficult to adapt to initially. However, teams that are already familiar with Agile methods will find the interface intuitive and well-structured. The interface can be customized to suit a team's individual needs. It features a drag and drop system that is repeated throughout the software, allowing for simple navigation throughout.
Targetprocess is a single-page application, meaning all its features and functions are displayed on the one dashboard, and users never need to navigate away from the main screen. A toolbar at the left gives users options to, for example, adjust data, change views, and add personalizations. The user doesn’t have to navigate away from the main screen as all the functions are displayed on the dashboard.
To supplement its desktop version, Targetprocess also offers a mobile app for iOS and Android, available in the relevant app store. The app allows users to add new work activities, track progress, mark work as done, and respond to comments. The Targetprocess mobile app makes it easy to keep an eye on things while on the go, as well as making creating new tasks or making quick updates while in meetings. All updates made in the app are automatically reflected in the web version, allowing users to switch easily between both.
Users have a few options for accessing direct support from Targetprocess, including a live chat, email support, and a virtual service desk where users can add tickets and comments. Telephone support, however, is not offered. Users can also access a Help Center where frequently asked questions, tutorials, webinars and eBooks are collated. The Help Center’s resources are searchable by keyword. The company’s blog is a good resource for news, updates, and tips on Agile practices.
